Training
How we deliver training
We apply the training principles developed by Michelle over many years, breaking up MGT Training’s delivery model into four distinct elements:
- Employer liaison: MGT focuses closely on each employer’s overall training objectives. We recognise that vocational training must support business goals and provide practical and relevant qualifications for their workforce. We liaise closely with training managers across programmes.
- Trainee support: motivating and supporting each trainee is critical to success. We don’t ‘cherry pick’ our trainees. Some need particular support for example if the come from disadvantaged backgrounds or have left school without qualifications. We have been able to enhance the lives of many young people, for example in personal situations involving drugs and family breakdown.
- Training content: always delivered meticulously to the requirements of the accrediting body. MGT pitch content and delivery at the level of trainees. We include particular employer requirements so as to maximise relevance to the work place and on-the-job specifications.
- Audit and verification: internal verification underlies all MGT accreditation, including recourse to individual trainee files. This is reflected in continually high external assessment scores.
Training outcomes
Work-based training is an effective investment for employers, providing tangible support to business delivery, ongoing performance and profitability.
MGT have trained over five thousand young people through Scottish Vocational Qualifications and Modern Apprenticeships. We have run three hundred training courses for employers in Scotland.
We consistently achieve success rates of over 85%, exceeding our public sector targets. Some courses achieve almost 96% success. We are one of the highest performing training organisations in Scotland.
MGT is an approved accreditation centre for Scottish Qualifications Authority. We are regularly allocated additional training places by Skills Development Scotland and have waiting lists for Modern Apprenticeship placements.
Our high levels of success working with and helping trainees gain relevant vocational qualifications underpins our continuing, long term contracts with many private and public sector organisations.
Successful trainees often go on to higher.
Cost effective training
MGT Training will work with individual employers to design and propose training programmes that meet specific vocational development needs.
We plan and deliver training and accreditation at locations and times that work for you.
We recognise that training is a cost centre within overall staff development. We maximise use of Scottish Government support to training and skills development to reduce the direct costs of vocational training wherever possible. For example:
- MGT Training is an approved Individual Learning Account (ILA) Centre. ILA provides up to £200 towards trainees’ individual costs of learning. We make sure that support is always secured for eligible trainees
- 16-19 year old trainee placements are free provided they meet government eligibility requirements
- Placements for 20+ year old trainees may also be free provided funding is available and government eligibility criteria are met
- We enable support from other schemes including European Social Fund and employer recruitment incentive programmes where available
- We handle all administration and arrange payment to the employer
- We provide comprehensive guides for trainees and employers, helping to control costs
